A house on the Bayou trailer teaches you not to invite strangers to dinner

Paramount Movies has released a new trailer for A house on the Bayou, the upcoming horror film written and directed by Alex McAulay (Don’t say anything to a soul). A house on the Bayou is the first of eight horror films to come out of a deal between Blumhouse and EPIX, as the network channel tries to bolster its original content lineup. A house on the Bayou arrives exclusively on EPIX and Digital on November 19th.

In A house on the Bayou, a family decides to flee the city for an idyllic getaway in the titular house. So far from civilization, home is the perfect place to disconnect from the world … or to fall victim to some psychopathic neighbors who invite each other to dinner and pretend to be polite.

While the trailer shows us that A house on the Bayou may be a new slasher, some scenes indicate supernatural elements are involved in the plot. For example, there are several mentions of the Devil in the new trailer, and the secluded mansion has a locked door that no one can open. So, it’s still not clear if the evil in the movie comes from men, demons, or a mixture of the two. All we can know for sure is that Blumhouse does a great job dominating modern horror production.

In addition to signing an eight film contract with EPIX, Blumhouse has enjoyed great success in producing films for Amazon under the “Welcome to the Blumhouse” seal and bringing the In the dark anthology series for Hulu. After A house on the Bayou, Blumhouse will bring the claustrophobic thriller American refugee at EPIX on December 10.

A house on the Bayou is produced by Jason blum, Chris McCumber, Jérémy Or, and Marie-Margaret Kunze. The film’s cast includes Angela Sarafyane (Westworld), Paul Schneider (Parks and recreation), Lia McHugh (Eternals, The cottage), and Jacob Lofland (Labyrinth).

A house on the Bayou arrives exclusively on EPIX on November 19th. The film will also be available for digital purchase the same day through Paramount Home Entertainment. Check out the new trailer below:
