Launch of Galaxy TV on DStv


MultiChoice Nigeria has added Galaxy TV, a popular free-to-air channel from Lagos, to its DStv platform from Thursday, July 7, 2016.

Galaxy TV will broadcast news from Nigeria, Africa and the rest of the world and will be on DStv channel 258. The channel will be available to Premium, Compact Plus, Compact, Family and Access subscribers.

Galaxy TV, which was previously only available on GOtv, now joins Nigeria’s growing number of FTA channels on DStv. Other FTA stations on DStv including NTA I, Channels TV, Africa Independent Television (AIT), SilverBird Television, TVC, Lagos Television and ONTV MAX.

MultiChoice Nigeria Managing Director John Ugbe said the addition of Galaxy TV will give subscribers more local content options to choose from.

“We are deeply committed to Africa and support the growth of original African programming. Galaxy TV is Nigeria’s first private television channel that broadcasts content not only from Nigeria, but also from Africa and the rest of the world Adding Galaxy TV to our FTA genre complements and energizes our local content offering on our platform,” he said.

The channel will broadcast 24 hours a day a wide range of programs and shows ranging from news, business, sports, entertainment and other local programs.
