Shirley Mae Kilpatrick House

OQUOSSOC – Shirley Mae Kilpatrick House, 85, of Rumford Road, died on Sunday September 18, 2022 with her family by her side. Shirley was born in Newburgh, NY on March 22, 1937, the daughter of the late William Henry and Louise (Taylor) Kilpatrick.

She attended Newburg Schools, playing in the school band. She graduated with the class of 1955. On December 22, 1956, she married Walter Neal House and they began their journey in life together.

Her nursing career began with a job at Colbolt Lodge in Colbolt, Connecticut, where she served as Director of Nursing. She also dedicated her nursing skills to the Nellie Pinkham House for Disabled Children in Strong. She also worked for Androscoggin Home Health for several years in nursing on the way to becoming Director of Nursing. When Shirley decided to retire from nursing, she chose to take up the position of church secretary at the Church of the Good Shepherd in Rangeley, which she served for many years. Shirley loved being able to spend time with her family and friends. Walt and Shirley loved spending time square dancing together. They enjoyed spending time together at home doing odd jobs, gardening, painting, mowing the lawn. Shirley always makes sure to shovel the catwalk for Walt.

Shirley is survived by her husband of 65 years, Walter; their sons Michael and Russell, daughter Johanne; his grandsons Vincent, Victor and Charles; two great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Wink, Marcie and Pat.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, October 4, 2022 at 2 p.m. at Good Shepherd Church, 2614 Main Street, Rangeley, Maine 04970. Interment will follow at a later date.

Cremation care and memorial services are supported and provided by the Wiles Remembrance Center in Farmington, Maine. Memories can be shared in his memory book at
