Uganda: State House asks 402 billion shillings to take care of Museveni next fiscal year


State House has requested Shs 402 billion as total funding for President Museveni’s activities next fiscal year.

The request was contained in a ministerial statement presented to the Parliament’s Presidential Affairs Committee.

According to the Minister of State for Economic Planning in the Office of President Peter Ogwang, 39.3 billion shillings has been budgeted to keep Entebbe State House up to required standards, repair and maintain the Nakasero State Lodge and 23 Upcountry State Lodges.

Ogwang said State House Entebbe was last renovated in 2007 before Uganda hosted CHOGM.

Without disclosing the exact figure to the committee, Ogwang said State House budgeted for the purchase of 14 new vehicles for the presidential convoy in addition to the budget for the annual maintenance of the presidential jet and helicopter.

According to the working document on the budgetary framework, Shs 13.4 billion was budgeted for the purchase of security equipment, Shs 109.7 billion for the mobilization of the masses against poverty and Shs 231.3 billion to honor at least 80 percent of the school’s requests for formal pledges and payment. fees to 3,425 sponsored students.

However, no provision of funds has been made to facilitate overseas travel for the president and vice president.

While discussing the External Security Organization issue, reporters were asked to leave the room because some of the issues under discussion were said to be “closed”.

Ogwang also disclosed to the committee some of State House’s accomplishments during the first two quarters of the current fiscal year.
